Design
The Wildflower Chunky Shawl features some super easy crochet stitches and is such a lovely design especially with some tassels added in for a bit extra on the ends. Originally i was going to make this a pocket shawl but the holes/gaps are just a bit too big to be adding pockets on top of but i think with this beautiful color and stitch work i don’t think it needed it in the end.
This chunky shawl pattern is a 6 row repeat and works up incredibly quick especially done in this yarn, i literally crocheted this in a couple of hours and then added the tassels on at the end and that was it finished so if you need a quick chunky shawl for a special occasion i have got you covered!

How Is This Chunky Shawl Crocheted?
It is worked by crocheting a long starting chain first for the width which will go around your body and then the depth is worked, if you would like the depth longer then just add more rows but note you will need more yarn to do this.

For this chunky shawl i used the Lion Brand Hue & Me which is such a dream to work with, it comes in some really muted but modern colors which are so perfect for everyday wear or around the home. This yarn is really soft for an acrylic blend yarn which i love and it’s really affordable too.

What Hook Did You Use?
For this crochet project i used a N/15 – 10mm crochet hook.
** This yarn is quite thick for a chunky yarn so it works up beautifully with a 10mm hook.

R1. Ch125, 1dc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (124dc)
R2. Ch1, 1dc in first 3dc, ch1, skip next dc * 1dc in next 2dc, ch1, skip next dc * Repeat across until last 3dc, 1dc in last 3dc, turn
R3. Ch1, 1dc in each dc across and 1dc in each ch1 space across, turn (124dc)
R4. Ch1, 2dc in first dc, skip next 2dc * Work (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next dc, skip next 2dc * Repeat across until last dc, 2dc in last dc, turn
R5. Ch1, 1dc in each dc across and 1dc in each ch1 space across, turn (124dc)
R6. Ch1, 2dc in first dc, skip next 2dc * Work (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next dc, skip next 2dc * Repeat across until last dc, 2dc in last dc, turn

Repeat rows 2-7 until the shawl measures 17 inches approx finishing on row 7.
Last Row. Ch1, Loosely SS into each dc across
Fasten off and weave in ends. Move onto Tassels.
Tassels:
Sorting Out Your Tassels:
- Cut 76 strands of yarn around 13.75 inches long
- Divide the 76 strands in to 2 groups – You should now have 38 strands in each group
Attaching Tassels:
- Grab 2 strands of yarn from your first pile of 38 strands, fold them in half to make a loop at the half way mark
- Locate the first row on one of the short sides of your shawl
- Put your hook through the first row from the back of the shawl to the front of the shawl
- Put your crochet hook through the loop of 2 strands of yarn at the halfway mark, pull the loop through the row on the shawl
- Remove your crochet hook
- Put your thumb and first finger though the loops and grab all the ends of the yarn and pull through
- Give a pull on each yarn strand to tighten the loop and secure
- Repeat the above on the ends of each row on both sides of your shawl
