I want to make my grandson an extra large bee. I have lots of yellow in my stash but is regular weight yarn, not bulky. How many stitches do I need to increase to make the big bee. I really don’t want to buy more yarn. Thank you for your pattern and your response.

This pattern is the same for any yarn weight you will use. If you want to mke bigger bee with thinner yarn, then just add more increase rows. I couldn’t tell you how many more, depends on the hook and yarn you use.

At this point – Close round 12 with a slip stitch and switch colors to black, but don’t cut the yellow yarn. – do you change to black during the slip stitch or the first sc of R13? Also do you count the slip stitch as one of the 48 overall stitches?

Hi, check out the video tutorial, you will see there how and when the changes are done. Slip stitches count as one stitch as they are done on top of a stitch, make sure you don’t count both the sl st and the sc it is made on top of.
