The Windfall Cardigan Crochet Pattern

Have you ever crocheted a cardigan in one piece from side to side before? I’ve done a few different designs like this and I’m super excited to introduce The Windfall Cardigan which is made the same way! One of the great things about it is very minimal seaming. There is only one small section on both sides of the cardigan that you need to seam!

I used Lion Brand Nuboo yarn to make this cardigan but I think it would also look great in a cotton yarn! The Nuboo is very silky and smooth. It is similar to Truboo with a bit more of a bounce and a little bit thicker! Can’t find any Nuboo or want to use a different yarn? Check out Yarnsub.com and enter in “Nuboo” in the search. It will bring up a ton of different yarn substitutions for you to choose from.

I have a full video tutorial available for this cardigan. If at any point you get confused or stuck I recommend checking out the video to see if I answer your question there! If you find it helpful I would be so grateful for a thumbs up and subscribe!

When you reach the main back panel, do not turn, continue working 1 Dc in each St across the row for a total of 183(189, 201, 207, 219, 225, 237, 243, 255) Dc, turn.

Rows 26(26, 28, 34, 34, 36, 42, 42, 44)-41(41, 43, 57, 57, 59, 73, 73, 75): Repeat Rows 2-9.

Tie off.

Measure Arm Holes-

Fold both front panels onto back panel, RS facing in. Your back panel will be longer than your front panels. Using your measuring tape, measure 7.5(8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5)” from the shoulder down the side. Place a SM. Repeat this on the opposite side being sure that you are placing your SM evenly on both sides. The exact St count around the opening of the arm hole is not crucial, however you will want to make sure its an even number of Sts and the same amount on both sleeves. Approximate count will be 58(62, 66, 70, 74, 78, 82, 86, 90).

Seam Sides-

Join yarn with a Sl St through both panels where you placed your SM. Sl St down the side of your cardigan working through both the front and back panel. Be sure you are not skipping any stitches as you go. Leave approximately 5.5” slit un-seamed from the front panel. Repeat on opposite side.

Arm Ribbing-

Turn your cardigan RS out. Join yarn with a Sl St to the St directly to the left of the side seam under the arm opening. We will be working our ribbing in rows around the opening of the arm.

Row 1: Ch 6, work 1 Sc in second Ch from hook and each Ch across. Sl St to the next unworked Dc of the arm hole, turn.

Row 2: 1 Sc (BLO) in each St across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, 1 Sc (BLO) in each St across, when you reach the arm opening, Sl St in the next 2 unworked Dc, turn.

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 until you have worked all the way around the opening of the arm. Work your final Row 3 repeat and instead of slip stitch twice you will finish with 1 Sl St into the side seam under the arm opening. Fold your ribbing together so the RS are facing. SL St the first and last row of the ribbing together. Tie off, repeat on other side.

Steam block your cardigan and weave in all ends.
