Once I had finished designing the Bauble Bandana Cowl and Bauble Slouch Hat, I knew I would have to create a pair of fingerless gloves to complete the set. I love fingerless gloves because they are simple to make and look fabulous! They add just a touch of warmth, but the style factor is through the roof! As soon as I was done taking pictures, these gloves disappeared into my daughters room, so I guess I’ll be making myself another pair. Lol!

I came across the Bead Stitch in my trusty Crochet Stitch Dictionary by Sarah Hazell. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make something with this stitch! I love how it really does look like you’ve strung a bead into your work. The effect is quite stunning when you pair it with a yarn that has a bit of sheen, which is why I chose Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable for this pattern. But, if you prefer a solid colour, Caron Simply Soft will also show off this pattern quite nicely.

Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain

Sc = Single Crochet

Hdc = Half Double Crochet

Dc= Double Crochet

Bd = Bead Stitch (See Notes Below and find the Tutorial Here)

Notes:

Ch1  at the beginning of a row is never considered a stitch.

Ch1 between hdc is always considered a stitch.

Ch3 at the beginning of a row is always considered a Dc.

A Bead Stitch counts as 2 stitches.

 I have added many pictures to help you along the way.

For those who have not yet tried the Bead Stitch, I created a tutorial. You can find it here.

I have also created a tutorial for crocheting into the 3rd loop. You can find it here.

I also created a tutorial for an alternative join method for when your next row will be worked into the 3rd loop. You can find that here.

Instructions

Make 2.

With 5mm Hook

Band

1. Ch6. Hdc in 2ch ch from hook and each ch across. Turn.   – 5 st

2. Working in 3rd LO: Ch1. Hdc in 1st st and each st across. Turn.   – 5 st

Repeat row 2 until you have a total of 17 (19, 21) rows.

Gauge check: Your band should be 7” (7 ¾”, 8 ½”) long x 1 ¼” (1 ¼”, 1 ¼”) wide.

Now we will ss the ends of the band together.

– Turn your work as if you are going to do another row of hdc, but don’t ch.

– Fold the bottom row up so that it sits behind your top row.

– Insert your hook through the 3rd loop of your top row and the bottom loop of your starting chain and make a slip stitch. (See figure 1)

– Slip stitch in this manner all the way across. This is the wrong side of your band. (See figure 2)

– Turn the band right side out. (See figure 3) Do not bind off. The first round will be worked into the side of the band where your hook is. We will now be working in the round, but still turning after each round.
