Textured Leg Warmers










It is sooo cold and it looks like the winter will never go away. It is the perfect time for a new project to keep the legs warm. This pattern uses chunky wool yarn and 10mm hook and can be done in less than 2 hours (with the breaks :))

This pattern uses US crochet terms.

Yarn: Drops Eskimo(100% wool) and Drops Peak(90% acrylic, 30% wool) any bulky yarn for 8-10mm hook will do

Hook size: 10 mm/ N (hook size conversion chart)
Stitches used: ss, ch, sc and dc
Finished size: 16 in/41cm long (from top to bottom), 12in/31cm the widest part (at the top). The size is for adult with small calf. Check the notes in the pattern for bigger sizes. 
Colors used: Drops Eskimo - Dark Gray (around 170 gr/ 170 m/ 185yd), Dark Eskimo - Off white (40 gr/ 40m/ 44yd), Drops Peak Coral (40 gr/ 40m/ 44yd)
Gauge: 11 sc x 15 rows = 4 x 4in (10 x 10 cm) square







Pattern:

Bottom Ribbing:

Row 1: Ch 8, sc in second ch fron hook, sc till end(7st), turn 

Row 2: Ch1, sc in back loop of same st, sc in back loop only till end (7st)

Row 3 - 25: Rep row 2 

Check it fits your ankle, you may add or remove few rowsJoin both ends with ss to form a circle. Now work in rounds.






Leg:Ch 1, sc 26 around, ss in ch 1. If you have added/removed rows add/remove the same number of sc, just make sure you have even number of stitches. Space your stitches evenly all around.

Round 1: With color B ch 2, sc in same st, skip 1 st, *(dc, sc in same st), skip 1 st*, rep from * - * till end, ss in ch2.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc around, end with ss in ch1.

Round 3: With color C rep round 1.

Round 4: Repeat round 2. 

Round 5, 7, 9: With color A repeat row 1. 

Round 6, 8, 10: Repeat row 2. 

Round 11: With color B repeat row 1. 

Round 12: With color B repeat row 2. 

Round 13: With color C repeat row 1. 

Round 14: With color C repeat row 2. 

Round 15: With color A reprepeat row 1. 

Round 16 (increase row): Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in next st, sc 11, 2sc in same st, sc till end, ss in ch 1. 

Round 17: Repeat row 1. 

Round 18: (increase row) Ch1, sc in same st, 2sc in next st, sc 13, 2sc in same st, sc till end, ss in ch 1. 

Round 19: Repeat row 1. 

Round 20: Repeat row 2. 

Round 21-22: Switch to color B and rep row 1 and 2. 

Round 23-24: Switch to color C and rep row 1 and 2. 


Top Ribbing:

Row 1: Ch 8, sc in second ch fron hook, sc till end (7st), turn. 

Row 2: Ch1, sc in back loop of same st, sc in back loop only till end (7st).

Row 3 - 30: Repeat row 2. 

Check it fits your calf, you may add or remove few rowsJoin both ends with ss to form a circle. Join the top ribbing part to the leg warmer with color A and ss.

  2. I have a question about row 1 ... doesn't the way it is written end up with an odd number of stitches? I don't know if it is written wrong or if i'm doing it wrong.
