Construction

The crochet Summer Sailing Sweater pattern is for a modern drop-shoulder pullover.

The sweater is constructed in two panels: front, and back. Both panels are crocheted bottom-up working in rows.

The two panels are identical with the exception that in the front one, we’ll shape the neckline. Thus, at the neckline point, it will split into Front Right and Front Left (right and left are defined as the right or left of the panel when you are facing it with the RS up).

On both the front and back panels, there are a few stitches added on the sides to make the armholes.

The front and back panels are seamed on top of the shoulders and on the sides of the body.

Then, the sleeves are crocheted directly on the sweater by working in rounds (more details in the appendix of the printable PDF pattern).

Seaming

Place the two panels on top of each other. For a more invisible seam, you can do the seaming with both wrong sides facing out.

Using the mattress stitch or your favorite sewing method, seam along the top of the shoulders by joining the last row of the Front Left and Front Right panels with the corresponding sts of the back panel.

Seam the sides of the sweater starting from about 1″ (2.5 cm) from the bottom and continuing up to the armholes. Use matching color yarn for seaming the different color sections.

Weave in all your ends.
