I’m so excited to finally be able to release my Star Dust Shrug Crochet Pattern! This pattern is a collaboration that I done with We Crochet.com. They graciously supplied all the yarn for this pattern. And, I must say, I’m so happy with how it turned out!

I chose to use their Wool of the Andes Bulky that is 100% Peruvian Highland wool yarn. It’s a super comfy and cozy yarn that is sure to keep you warm. It’s like being wrapped in a warm blanket! But way prettier than just a blanket.

Of course, George has to help me take pictures whenever I’m outside. He thinks that I need help, of which I don’t mind. He makes a really cute photo bomber!

About the Design –

The Star Dust shrug is pretty simple in design. It’s basically a rectangle that you just fold the corners down and seam them together. Add a little crochet around the border and sleeves and done! It’s so simple, yet soooo pretty and elegant!

I have included a lot of pictures throughout the pattern, especially on the seaming section to make sure everything is super clear and easy to understand.

I chose to use 3 pretty colors and make a striped shrug, but you could easily just do 1 solid color and that would be so pretty too!

I used a special stitch for this shrug called the Star Stitch. I have a complete in detail written, picture and video tutorial for this stitch HERE. If you have never used this stitch before, I’d highly recommend checking out the tutorial and working a swatch of the star stitch to become familiar with it before you start the shrug.

When I was trying to seam the edges of my shrug, I had a little extra help. Or someone trying to steal my yarn, lol.

*Note – I didn’t cut the yarn after every color, I just ran it up the one side of the shrug, because it will later get covered up.

HOW TO SEAM:

With the shrug facing right side up, lay it out completely flat. Fold the top corner on each side halfway down. Then fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner on both sides.

Attach your yarn (Color B) to the edge where the 2 corners meet and slip stitch the edges together, making sure to keep the colors lined up.

Leave about 5 (5, 5, 8, 8, 8) rows not closed for the arm hole.

Repeat for other side. I just made sure all the lines of yarn are on the inside as I slip Stitch

Turn the shrug right side out.

Attach yarn (Color B) any where around either arm hole, evenly single crochet around the edge. Slip stitch to join

Attach yarn (Color B) anywhere around the edge of the body, evenly single crochet around the edge. Slip stitch to join.

*Chain 1, blsc in each stitch around, sl st to join * repeat * to * for an additional 2 (2, 2, 4, 4, 4) more rows

Cut yarn and weave in all ends!
