I absolutely love southwestern style. I love cactus and succulents, Navajo blankets, sheepskin rugs and serapes. I have ideas for serape-inspired projects for later this fall, but I really wanted to make this crochet serape lovey this summer. I was brainstorming what animal to put on top, then Dallas had the brilliant idea to make a coyote, isn’t it adorable?

Since I love aqua and coral, I decided to make two: Sage is made with Peachie and Winslow is make with Pool.

The crochet serape blanket part of this lovey took a bit of trial and error with the colorwork but I adore how it turned out. I may have to take the idea and turn it into a full-sized throw or bag.

  1. My goodness my auto spell really messed up. Will try once more. I thought the serape lovey was a free pattern. Unable to find anywhere. Have a great, great grandson on the way and wanted to try this cute lovey. Thanks

  2. I’d love to make this pattern, but I can’t seem to find the red heart baby hugs yarn in stock in the right colors. Can you recommend a similar yarn to substitute?

Thanks so much for the adorable lovey!

    1. Thanks Lisa! Yes, some yarns are hard to find right now, it’s very frustrating! Honestly, any soft worsted weight yarn would work. Maybe Premier anti Pill, or LB Basic Stitch Anti Pill. Some of my favorite yarns have changed recently and I am scrambling to find substitutes myself!

  3. Bethany, thank you for sharing this unique lovey pattern. I love the look. Have added to my Ravelry favourites.

  4. I’m a BIG southwestern fan as well! I would DEFINITELY be interested in a big blanket like this! I love it!

  5. Thank you so much. for sharing. I really like the southwestern pattern in the middle, makes it that much more special.

  6. Hi Bethany! I purchased this pattern on Ravelry. When I downloaded it, there were differences from the pattern on your blog. The yarn on the Ravelry pattern I downloaded lists Knit Picks Mighty Stitch and only calls for 2 different colors. The downloaded pattern also seems to repeat the first 2 or three pages. I just wanted to let you know in case there is confusion, and perhaps you would like to fix this.
Thanks so much for this darling pattern, I can’t wait to start it, hopefully tonight!

    1. I sent out an update! I did not see a repeat page problem in my version, though. I wonder if a glitch happened when I uploaded the first one? Strange. Anyway, please download the updated version, and I am sorry for the inconvenience!

      1. Thank you Bethany! I’ll go ahead and download the update. I’m going to start this tomorrow for sure!
