Hello friends! I am delighted to present my latest crochet pattern. The Samurai's wisdom shawl crochet pattern is here! Even though in Greece we don't consider shawls a thing, I've always loved to use them as triangle scarves. Nick makes fun of me calling me a cow-girl but I don't mind him much! I love to make and wear triangle scarves. I've made so many I had to offer triangle scarves on Akamatra to make room for more.

I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to create such a scarf with the wonderful Twister yarn from Hobbii yarns, especially after I loved working with them in the making of my crochet amigurumi Natalumis pattern

This is a very nice cake yarn with lovely gradient colors that twist and intertwine themselves. I choose number 16 that starts with a lovely soft red/magenta and gradually turns into a navy blue. It's a perfect color for an everyday scarf and easily combines with my jeans.

It's a fine sized yarn so you'll need a size 3.00 mm crochet hook to work with it. It might take a little while longer than the "thick and fast" yarns but the stitch definition is worth it. It's 50% cotton and 50% synthetic which makes it super soft, warm and easy to wash. In other words, very easy to handle and appropriate for making garments for every day use. However, the fine size of it allows you make delicate patterns and even some lace work.

The Samurai's wisdom shawl crochet pattern I wrote for this yarn only needs 1 cake which is a nice feature in my opinion and can make a nice turnaround if you plan to invest in this yarn and sell your creations. I tried to keep the pattern easy enough for beginners to be able to follow. You will only need to repeat 10 rows for 6 times, that's it!

– sc: single crochet

– BLO: back loop only

– dc: double crochet

– tr: treble crochet

– sl st: slip stitch

– p: picot stitch (explained in notes)

– CS: cluster stitch (explained in notes)

Notes

– This works from top to bottom.

– The first 3 chains at the start of every row count as 1 dc

– If you are not familiar with a magic ring you can just form a circle by ch4 and slip stitch to close the loop.

– The last stitches of a row are made in the third chain of the previous row

– How to do the cluster stitch (CS): yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops in hook. You now have 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops in hook. You now have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops in hook. You now have 4 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook.

Please note that this is the cluster stitch I used for this pattern. You can also come across the cluster stitch with more dcs forming the stitch. Always read the pattern notes to be sure.

– How to do the picot (p): chain 3 and slip stitch to your first chain.

– If you want to skip the blo in the sc of rows 8 and 9 go ahead. It does add a bit of texture but the main reason why I added it is for practice for the more novice crocheters.
