Materials:

• Approximately 60 yds of Category 4 Medium Weight Yarn in three colors:
  • Approximately 36 yds of Color A; I used Lily Sugar n Cream* in the Hot Orange colorway
  • Approximately 19 yds of Color B; I used Lily Sugar n Cream* in the Dark Pine colorway
  • Approximately 5 yds of Color C; I used Lily Sugar n Cream* in the Warm Brown colorway
• Size I 5.5 mm Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

ch(s) – chain(s)
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
() – indicates stitch counts and notes
[] – indicates instructions to be worked into one stitch
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

15.6 stitches & 12 rows = 4″ (in hdc)

Finished Size:

Fits a pint-sized mason jar

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.

With Color A,
Magic Circle, ch 1
Round 1: 10 hdc into the magic circle, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc into each st around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the first st, 2 hdc into the next st, *1 hdc into the next st, 2 hdc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc into each st around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (30 sts)
Round 5-13: Repeat Round 4 (30 sts)
Change to Color B
Round 14: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, fasten off, weave all ends. (30 sts)

Top:

Magic Circle, ch 1
Round 1: 8 hdc into the magic circle, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (8 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc into each st around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (16 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 hdc into the first st, 2 hdc into the next st, *1 hdc into the next st, 2 hdc into the next st; Repeat from * around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1, 1 hdc into each st around, join in beginning hdc with a sl st. (24 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1, 1 sc into each st around, fasten off, weave all ends. (24 sts)

Stem:

With Color C, Magic Circle, ch 1.
Round 1: 6 sc into the magic circle, join in beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Round 2: 1 dc into each st around, join in beginning sc with a sl st. (6 sts)
Round 3-4: Repeat Round 2.
Round 5: Repeat Round 2, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Leaf:

With Color B, leave a long yarn tail
Ch 11,
Row 1: 1 sc into the 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 dc into the next st, [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] all into the next st, sl st into the next st, Working down the other side of the ch (leaving the remaining ch sts unworked), [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] all into the next st (beneath the previous cluster), 1 dc into the next st, 1 hdc into the next st, 1 sc into the last st, ch 2, join in beginning sc. (15 sts)

Finish:

• Attach leaves to Round 14 of the cozy using a yarn needle and the yarn tails.
• Attach stem to the jar cozy top using a yarn needle and the yarn tails.
• Weave all ends.
