It’s time for a new design and I would like to introduce my newest design, the Polaris Shawl. I wanted to bring a little of Summer into Winter with the Polaris Shawl. Using bulky yarn and a lace pattern the Polaris Shawl has an elegant drape, beautiful texture, and adds some warmth. I’m also honored you can find the kit available at Lion Brand Yarn. This is a free pattern and a low-cost PDF with written instructions is available in my Shop and Ravelry.
This is a pattern with repeating rows so it works up quickly once you get the first rows down. It’s a nice project to get cozy with and watch your favorite show or movie.
I loved working with Scarfie, it’s a lovely mixture of acrylic and wool that is soft and versatile. The color options for a kit are available at Lion Brand Yarn!
I had just as much fun taking these pictures next to this giant Hawaiian Pothos. I’ll be wearing my Polaris Shawl with some jeans and hanging out at my favorite local coffee shop.

esc (extended single crochet) Insert hook in next st, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 1 loop on hook, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook.
tr (treble crochet) Yarn over twice, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops] twice.

Ch 214.
Row 1(RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, sk 3 ch,*(dc, ch 4, dc) in next ch, ch 2, sk 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, sk 3 ch*; rep from * across until 7 ch are left, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next ch, ch 2, sk 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in last ch – you will have 26 ch-4 sps.
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as a tr), turn, tr in first sc, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next sc, *ch 2, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next sc*; rep from * across, tr in last sc.
Row 3: Ch 6 (counts as a tr + ch 2), turn, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 2, *(dc, ch 4, dc) in next sc, ch 2, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 2*; rep from * across, tr in turning ch.
Row 4: Ch 4 (count as a tr), turn, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next sc, *ch 2, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 4, dc) in sc*; rep from * across, tr in ch-6.
Rep Rows 3-4 another 23 times until you have 50 rows, work should measure approx. 24 in. (61 cm) from beg.
Next Row: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), turn, sc, ch 1, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 1, sc in dc, sc in ch-2 sp, *sc in next sc, sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next dc, ch 1, sc in ch-4 sp, ch 1, sc in dc, sc in ch-2 sp*; rep from * across with last sc in turning ch from previous row.
Do not fasten off.
Ch 1, working in the round, rotate Shawl with short side facing up.
Rnd 1(RS): Ch 1, *work 2esc at the end of each row across, 1 esc at end of Row 1, ch 1, rotate work to long side, esc evenly across in each st and with 3esc in ch-3 sps*, rotate work and rep from *, ch 1 and sl st to 1st esc.
Fasten off
Weave in ends.
FINISHING
Fringe
Cut 200 12” [30.5 cm] lengths of yarn. Use larks head knots to attach two strands on every other st across to short end of shawl. To do so, with RS facing you, fold length in half, insert crochet hook, pull folded loop through st, use hook to grab ends, and pull them through folded loop. Pull knot snug. Rep in every other st and trim fringe evenly.
