Makabaka is the name I did not create. It is my older daughter who started to call her little sister Makabaka. I do not know how she came up with the name, but she liked it so much that everyone knew it.
So when Makabaka started to walk a bit and I had few hours free during the rainy autumn I started to crochet long slipper boots and mukluk slippers, which I thought could be a nice Christmas present for my family and friends. I became really involved and fascinated about crochet slipper boots so I decided to make them for others as well and that is how Makabaka Footwear started.
When the spring was approaching I did not want to stop, so I continued making crochet shoes and espadrilles for the summer. I really love creating new designs, looking for the new colors and forms. As I think it is a great idea to make your own shoes instead of buying them from worldwide famous brands, I also make crochet shoes patters. I think slow fashion and ethical fashion movements are really great and I highly support this idea, so I invite you to buy handmade or make handmade yourself!
