Flower Square Kids Poncho

For this poncho, make a combination of 42 two tone squares  out of 5 balls of Scheepjewol Stonewashed yarn. See exact colour codes I used for this poncho in the side bar to the left. There is no particular order in which to join the squares, although you’ll get the best results when joining them in rows, with the same joints next to each other. Basically you will make 2 squares (5×5 flower squares) of 21 flower squares each, joined on the go, leaving the top 4 squares out to create the neck line. By blocking the poncho, you will get a little more open structure that shows off the pattern better.

Variations in sizing can be created by adding rows of squares along the bottom of the poncho. This poncho fits a 6-7 year old perfectly. To make it adult size, add at least about 4-5 rows at the bottom and see how it fits.

joining the squares

The squares are joined ‘on the go’ which means you’ll attach every new square you make in the last round to the existing squares.

    Hello,

What age child is this poncho for?

    1. Maaike (creJJtion) says:

Hi Donna, I would say 3-6 years old. However you can easily add more squares at the bottom to make it larger. The gap for your head is even large enough for grown ups. Enjoy!
