So many people send Christmas cards with a family photo on it, so I wanted to make something to be used as a fun photo prop!
I introduce to you, the Jumbo Jingle Ball Christmas Ornament!
(Yes, I wanted to make the title as long as possible! Haha!)
Or cute holiday home decor!

MATERIALS:
1. Medium weight size 4 yarn in any colors. I used Hobby Lobby brand “I Love This Yarn”.
***(342 yds all together! This can be done in 1 skein of 1 color! It’s great for using up scrap yarn for the stripes.)***
2. 4mm crochet hook: (or smaller depending on your yarn. Choose a hook that doesn’t leave big holes between your stitches! See “Guage” section below.)
3. Stitch marker: I like these Hobby Lobby ones.
4. Bent Yarn needle.
5. Polyfil: about 30 oz. (12 oz. bags are $2.99 at Hobby Lobby.)

hdc: half double crochet

hdc2tog: half double crochet 2 together
. Use the invisible decrease so the holes stay small. Here’s my video showing how:

ch: chain

sl st: slip stitch

NOTES:
1. Work in continuous rounds.
2. 
Using stitch markers: Make the first stitch of the row you are starting. Put the stitch marker in the stitch you just made. Crochet around. The last stitch of the row will be the one before the stitch marker. To begin the new round, take the stitch marker out, do one stitch where the marker was, and replace the marker right where you just stitched. Here is a video tutorial on stitch markers:
3. The finished ornament is about 12.5 inches (31.75 cm) tall, and about 10.5 inches (26.67 cm) wide.
 This will vary depending on the yarn you use and how tight or loose your tension is. (See the “Gauge” section below.)
4. This pattern is on 8.5 x 11in. pages so you can print them if you wish.

5. Wash instructions: follow the yarn label of the brand/material you are using.
6. If you don’t like the jagged line from the stripes of color that will show on the back, here is a video tutorial showing how to make it line up:
GUAGE: 20 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches.

Guage Swatch Pattern: Chain 28. Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and all the way across. (25 stitches.) Chain 2. Hdc across. (25 stitches.) Repeat until you have about 5 inches of rows.
IF YOU HAVE LESS STITCHES & ROWS, SWITCH TO A SMALLER HOOK. YOU DO NOT WANT BIG HOLES THAT WILL SHOW THE STUFFING INSIDE.
***It might seem pretty flat & bowl-like at this point, but it will round out once it grows taller!***
***Make sure it is stuffed firmly with polyfil! It should be round like an ornament.***
Fasten off with a short tail. Use a sewing needle and close the ball by sewing through the front loop only of the 6 sts. Pull tight and hide tail inside. Here is a video I made showing how:

I just love this Christmas Jingle Ball. How did you know I needed one. Also thank you to Heidi for the pretty snowflake as it really sets the Jingle Ball off. I am sure all my nephews and nieces will want one now.
