The Design:
The Julia Cardi Sweater is so easy to wear, flattering for most and looks great with slacks, jeans, skirts or even over a dress, so it’s very versatile too! The top sits just below the waist, but of course you could make it longer if you like, with a flattering cross over front and two different sleeve options.
I think the bell sleeves are beautiful and give this top a romantic flair, but if you prefer a more tailored look, I’ve included instructions for an elbow length short sleeve.
The Julia Cardi Sweater front is secured with two buttons, one hidden on the inside by the side seam and one that shows on the outside, however, if you prefer not to have to deal with buttons, you could tack the crossover in place and put the top on as a pullover instead.
And I like it from the back too!
The Yarn:
The yarn I used for the Julia Cardi Sweater is a new one called Red Heart Croquette. This super fine #1 yarn comes in 11 beautifully shaded color schemes with a glistening metallic thread throughout. You can read my yarn reviews HERE, but if you have a chance, try this yarn, it’s very luxurious!
Size: (XS, S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X) Pattern written with size changes as indicated in ( ).
Materials:
- Super Fine (#1) weight yarn, I used Red Heart Croquette, in the color Spice Market. (239 yards per cake); see chart for quantity
- Hook C/2.75 mm
- Hook B/ 2.25 mm (Bottom Border)
- 1” Buttons (2)
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends

Notes:
- Pattern written in US Standard terms
- Weave ends as you work.

- Ch1 at beginning of row/round DOES NOT count as a stitch.
- Repeat instructions in [ ] as indicated.
The Julia Cardi Sweater is worked bottom up in three sections that are seamed together and then the sleeves are added to armholes and crocheted toward wrist. The top is intended to cross over in the front and is closed with two buttons at the bottom band. Alternatively, you could sew it closed with the crossover in place and put it on as a pullover.
The Julia Cardi Sweater is available with two sleeve lengths, a straight sleeve that goes to about the elbow and a 3/4 bell sleeve that I think is so romantic!
