Many of you have asked for a mid-weight, crocheted wrap so I’m super excited to share today’s pattern! I LOVE this for the transition from summer into fall.  It’s made with a simple four row pattern repeat and the yarn is soft as can be with the perfect drape.

I also love that the Ferris Wheel Yarn cakes are large so that this wrap only uses three cakes total.  It’s self striping, so there’s no need to make color changes. Lion Brand’s created this beautiful color combo called Cherry On Top along with several other options.  What do you think?

How difficult is this wrap?  It’s simple, but it’s not for complete beginners. It’s got enough variation to keep you interested, yet it’s easy enough for those of you who’ve got all the basic stitches down.  I guess I’d call it intermediate for that reason.

It’s so fun to see the different colors emerge as you work through the pattern.  The large, lacy scallops feature beautiful openwork designs that you can see in the close-up photo below. Isn’t it pretty?

My favorite crocheted wrap has to be the Santa Monica Bias Wrap, and this one is right there with it.  They are both light and soft on the skin, making them really versatile.

This piece can certainly work as a wrap, shawl, cover-up or scarf! It’s light enough to throw in a bag if you’re travelling and it holds it’s shape nicely.

I could have used it in the air conditioned restaurants in Florida this last week. Hehe! And aren’t these some lovely fall colors? The burnt orange, pumpkin, taupes and pinks. LOVE!

Description:

This airy wrap featuring scallop shells and stripes is the perfect accessory whether you’re enjoying the fall season or just out with friends.  It’s simple to achieve the look of stripes with the color changing yarn while an easy pattern repeat makes it fun to create.  Feminine and light, you can wear it as a shawl, scarf or cover-up!

Materials:

US Size I, 5.25 hook

3 skeins Lion Brand Ferris Wheel Yarn in Cherry On Top (85 g/skein) (Find the kit HERE or just the yarn on the Lion Brand Site HERE)

Pattern uses approximately 255 g total

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: Approximately 63” x 18”

Gauge: Not important for this pattern

Notes:

This wrap is worked from the top-down. You will start with a beginning chain and work in rows while following the stitch pattern. Once you’ve used the entire 3 skeins of yarn or your piece measures approximately 18”, tie off and weave in ends.  You may make it longer by starting with a longer chain while keeping a multiple of 8 + 4. To make it wider, simply continue the pattern repeat for as long as desired. (Keep yarn needs in mind).
