The yarn I used for my scarf, is a DK weight (light worsted weight) yarn, but you could use any yarn weight and matching hook of your choice.

Materials
King Cole Subtle Drifter Dk Weight /238yds [300m]: 25%Cotton, 6% Wool, 69% Acrylic/100gr
MC: Main Colour – 2 balls in Fuchsia (4389)
CC: Contrast Colour – 1 ball in Navy (4394)
4.50mm crochet hook
You can use 700 – 800m of any Dk weight yarn, or yarn weight of your choice and matching hook.

Using MC and 4.00mm hook, ch 56
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn – 55 sc
Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc in blo, in each st across, making last sc in both loops, turn – 55 sc
Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), dc in next 2 sts, skip 3 sts, shell (see special stitches) in next st, skip 3 sts, * dc in next 7 sts, skip 3 sts, shell in next st, skip 3 sts; rep from * 2 more times until 3 sts remain, dc in last 3 sts, turn – 27 dc, 4 shells
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in next st, fpdc (see special stitches) in next st, ch 3, sc in centre of next shell, ch 3, * fpdc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, fpdc in next st, ch 3, sc in centre of next shell, ch 3; rep from * 2 more times until 3 sts remain, fpdc in next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn

You can make your scarf the length you wish, repeating rows 4 & 5. Make sure you finish on a row 4 before completing last 2 rows.

Finishing
Weave in all loose ends. Soak your scarf in lukewarm water and gently wring in a towel. Lay project out to finished size and pull gently into shape. Pin in place and leave to dry.
