My friend LOVES hockey. He’s been playing since he was 4 years old! I didn’t even know 4 year olds had enough co-ordination to play hockey! His favourite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I thought the perfect gift for him would be an amigurumi bear in a Leafs jersey!

I actually just tied it to the arm, so I still can take it off. I put it in the bears right arm, because my friend is right handed!

Onto my favourite part, sewing on the final details! I really have a love/hate relationship with sewing! Since this was a Maple Leafs Jersey, I sewed on a little leaf with blue yarn. To be completely honest, sewing the leaf took me the longest time! It had so many points and dips, not to mention both sides had to look identical!

image

I loved how I got to personalize my friends name on the back. I love sewing letters, probably because they are predictable shapes, unlike that darn leaf! When he played hockey 7 was his number, so I got to sew his number on the back!

I’m so happy how this bear turned out! I think he looks super kawaii! I want to make another one with a blue jersey. Or maybe I could make more bears for different hockey teams!

Don’t forget to check out my HOCKEY SKATES pattern! Perfect for a true fan!

Happy crocheting!
