Georgia Summer Lace Top

Georgia Crochet Lace Top

The Georgia Summer Lace Top is inspired by the desire to reconnect after spending A LOT of time inside. Summer has always meant vacations to new destinations or favorite places, barbecues, amusement parks or heading to the pool. For those that don’t have the stamina for standing in long lines anymore, and might have to spend their days heading to the office, this summer lace top is the perfect wardrobe staple!

As a top down garment, the yoke is created with simple stitches to create a square/ tank top neckline, and has a row of horizontal puff stitches. The puff stitches reminds me of the flowers that bloom in summer. The body of the top is created from two lace panels and tall stitches to create a flattering a-line. As a size-inclusive design, it’s sure to compliment every body shape. And if you need to make a few adjustments for the perfect fit, consider choosing a size up or down, or if more adjustments are needed, buy a copy of A Guide to Creating Garments that Fit.

Styling Options

For years, a beautiful lace top can be seen in summer fashion trends. With this lace crochet top, you can have a timeless piece to style for many occasions. As modeled, you can wear a tank underneath and pair with shorts and heels when heading out to lunch with friends.

Need to head to work, chose a light colored tank or a short sleeve shirt with a round neck to wear underneath your Georgia Summer Top, and grab a pair of light gray slacks, and flats or short heels. If your office is cold, then add a blazer or cardigan. You can also choose a pencil skirt with heels for the office.

For true summer vibes, pair this crochet tank top with a white or off white bohemian skirt that offers the same a-line silhouette, and you’re ready for any summer concert, festival or local farmer’s market.

Do you have a slip dress in the closet? Throw this crochet top over it for yet another style. Don’t forget to add a small handbag, a large bangle, and some stud or dangling earrings, and you’re ready for dinner with your partner (or future partner) or a girls’ night out.

Have fun with your crochet garment pieces!

Yarn

This yarn was provided to me by A Hundred Ravens as part of the Progress, Hope and Happiness 2022! *insert squeal* Nafanua is GORGEOUS! That’s it. Nothing else to say. ?

Seriously, this yarn is AMAZING as a 50-50 merino wool and silk blend yarn. The smoothness of the fibers is one of the best I have ever worked with, and the slight sheen from the silk is just the right amount of shine. The drape created within the fabric is amazing for movement, and breathability. Seriously, you NEED some Nafanua in your life.

Each hank come in 328 yards / 299.9 meters per 100g at $38. The price may seem shocking to some, but is right in line with many of the luxury hand dyed lines that I have been sampling.

If you would like to learn more about Progress, Hop & Happiness 2022, All Things Generative, join the Ravelry Group, Happiness Make Along. There will be chances to win this crochet and knit patterns and yarn from each of the participating indie dyers and designers!

NOTES

  • Pattern is written in US terms.
  • Read the entire pattern before beginning.
  • Yoke and Body are made in turned rounds.
  • The Georgia Crochet Top is made in 6 parts: Yoke, Front Panel, Back Panel, Body, Edging and Arm Opening.
  • CSDC can be replaced with ch 3.
  • CSTR can be replaced with ch 4.
  • Each size is color coded for ease of reading within the ad-free PDF.
  • The stitch of the first and last leg of each DTDtog will be used by the previous and following DTDtog, except for the first and last one.
  • 7 sts are always skipped between the legs of each Dtr2tog
  • It helps to insert the hook under 2 sets of loops of the DTDtog of the row below to reduce the natural lean of the sts.
  • The ad-free PDF includes a schematic at the end of the pattern to assist with the overall shape and sizing of the Georgia Summer Top.
