How to Crochet A Granny Square Shawl
To crochet a granny square shawl you need to crochet multiple granny squares, then a few half granny squares.
Once you have crocheted all the granny squares needed, it’s time to assemble them.
Choose your favorite method to assemble granny squares. In this crochet pattern the suggested method is the flat slip stitch join, but you can also assemble them with whip stitches or the join as you go method.
To finish off you can make yarn tassels to attach to each of the pointy ends. This is of course optional.
The Yarn
To crochet this granny square shawl I used Lion Brand Yarn – Basic Stitch Premium.
I have used this shawl for both the Simple Top Down Raglan Cardigan & the Basic Wrap Pullover.
It’s soft, great to work with & holdings up well for care & washing as well.
It comes in many beautiful colors!

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.
