Herringbone Crochet Washcloth Pattern
The herringbone stitch is so full of texture and interest. I love how the stitches slant back and forth and make for a nice washcloth. These are simple to make and great for a beginner. Here we go…

Herringbone Crochet Washcloth
Yarn Information:
Lily Sugar ‘n Cream, by Yarnspirations, is known for its exceptional quality and wide range of colors, ideal for knit, crochet, and craft projects.
- Natural, soft, absorbent 100% U.S.A. grown cotton
- Content: 100% cotton
- Ball Size – Solids: 71g / 2.5 oz, 109 meters / 120 yards
- Ball Size – Ombres: 57g / 2 oz, 86 meters / 95 yards
- Care: Machine wash and dry
- Gauge: 4 – Medium – Worsted
Supplies:
Lily Sugar’n Cream Cotton Yarn – 50 yards
Hook – Size F, (3.75mm)
Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
Gauge: 4 sts x 2 rows = 1 inch
Measurement:
8 1/2″ long by 7″ wide. Can be adjusted by adding more chains to beginning row and/or by repeating Row 2 more times to desired length.
Abbreviations: in US Terminology
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
yo – yarn over

Hhdc – herringbone half double crochet stitch
Yo, insert hook, yo and draw through st and first loop on hook, yo, draw through both loops on hook.
Instructions:
Row 1: Ch 26, dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in each st across (24 dc).
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first Hhdc), turn, 1 Hhdc in each st across. (24 Hhdc).
Rows 3-21: repeat Row 2.
Row 22: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, 1 dc in ea st across (24 dc).
Edging: (optional) Ch 1, sl st around all four sides. End off, weave in ends.

I’ve never done Herringbone Crochet before, but these look really neat! Plus, I’m always on the lookout for wash/dishcloth patterns, as I make them as wedding gifts for friends.
