Christmas Tree Blanket Crochet Pattern

It’s finally beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Well, it is for Oklahoma anyways. It’s going to dip down into the 30’s at night this week, which is pretty much Christmas weather for us. We have had some Christmases where it was in the 60’s. So, it has been the perfect time to get this Christmas Tree Blanket Pattern finished for everyone!

This was a really fun piece to work on and I’m so happy with how it turned out!

I completed this blanket in just about a month, which is really fast for me! I even ran out of yarn twice or it might have been sooner. So, if you start now you can definitely have it finished before Christmas! I even had other projects in between working on this blanket.

I love everything about this blanket! Especially the special border that I used for it. The border is called a ‘Candy Cane Border.’ Isn’t that cute?!

What Yarn I Used for the Christmas Tree Blanket

For this blanket, I chose to use Brava Worsted yarn from We Crochet. It’s a really soft acrylic yarn that works up really well. It’s machine washable and tumble dry, so that’s perfect with using it for a blanket!

It’s also on the inexpensive side, which is a very good thing since blankets use so much yarn.

C2C Technique

To make this Christmas Tree blanket, you will need to know how to do the Corner to Corner stitch. If you don’t know how to do that, don’t worry, find my full written, picture and video tutorial HERE!

• Christmas Tree Blanket is made with the Corner to Corner technique, if you don’t know how to C2C Crochet, find a tutorial for that HERE
• You will work the C2C square on the diagonal starting from bottom right corner to top left.

Do NOT cut yarn and continue by evenly sc around the whole edge of the blanket, making sure to space the sc out very evenly and placing 2 sc in each corner. sl st into 1st sc when you reach the beginning

Cut yarn.

BORDER –

You can leave the blanket as is or add a border. I went with a Candy Cane Border for this blanket using the red and green yarn.

Beginning anywhere around the edge of the blanket, attach your red yarn and chain 4, in the next st to the left of the red yarn, attach the green and chain 4

Insert your hook back into the red yarn and cross it over in front of the green and sc into the next st

ch 4

Remove hook from red and insert into green. Cross it over in front of the red and sc into the next st, ch 4

Keep continuing in like manner, alternating between the red and green yarn. When you reach the point where you started, depending on how many stitches you have around your border, you may have to skip a stitch in order to keep the color pattern even. You can see here that I have one stitch left, but I’m going to skip it because I don’t want 2 red strands next to each other.

Had green been the next color, I would have worked the stitch. Now we are going to sl st the red into the bottom beginning of the red and the green into the bottom beginning of the green.
