I have been blogging for 2 years now. TWO years!! I have always wanted to make bunting flags, and thought Stitch-em’s anniversary was a perfect opportunity to try out a new pattern!

Materials:

- 4.0 and 4.5mm hook

- worsted weight yarn (I used Loops and Threads Impeccable)

Flag: worked in rows. Ch 1 to start a new row.

On a 4.0mm hook

1) ch 13. Starting in the second ch from the hook, 1sc in each ch (12)

2) 1sc in the next 5sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 5 sts (11)

3) 1sc in each st (11)

4) 1sc in the next 5sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 4sts (10)

5) 1sc in each st (10)

6) 1sc in the next 4sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 4sts (9)

7) 1sc in each st (9)

8) 1sc in the next 4sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 3sts (8)

9) 1sc in each st (8)

10) 1sc in the next 3sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 3sts (7)

11) 1sc in each st (7)

12) 1sc in the next 2sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 3sts (6)

13) 1sc in the next 2sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 2sts (5)

14) 1sc in the next 1sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 2sts (4)

15) 1sc in the next 1sts, 1sc dec, 1sc in the next 1sts (3)

16) 1sc dec, 1sc (2)

17) 1sc dec (1). Don’t turn. Now working around the edge flag, sc around. I had 45sc sts, slip stitch to the first stitch and fasten off.

As you might know, I do have a love hate relationship with sewing. For this pattern, I did not sew at all! Instead of sewing, I slip stitched the letters onto the flags using a 4.5mm hook. I used this technique while making a leaf for my Little Totoro. Find a picture tutorial HERE

To attach the flags together I slip stitched 14sts to make little handles on the side, then slip stitched across the top of the flag. I left 2 slip stitches between each flag so they hung evenly.
