Bettendorf Poncho & Shawl Free Crochet Pattern Featuring Red Heart Yarn

I love when a yarn does the heavy lifting for me and all the colorwork magically appears as if I spent hours and hours planning it just so. Red Heart Colorscape is just such a magical yarn. I wanted a classic shape to this poncho and it works up like a charm. The yarn is really the star and does most of the work with the color allowing the stitches to be simple. Thank you to my friend Tamara of Moogly Blog for gifting me such incredible yarn to work with.

ASSEMBLY & FINISHING:

Fold fabric in half lengthwise and pull the loop that is on the hook through the opposite corner attaching them together. This is now INSIDE OUT.

Measure 13 (14, 15, 16)” from corner and fasten together.

Then seam the two sides together from the corner to the fastener using sc or whip stitch. (Leave enough for the neck if you go further up on the seam)

Then sl st around the remaining edge where the neck hole will be

This is the finishing of the neck opening.

Slip Stitch back down the seam you just created with the 46 sc to the corner.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Turn Right Side Out.
