Free baby crochet sun hat pattern, these little hats are great for keeping the sun off babies heads and necks.
I have started with a basic his and hers beanie hat crown instructions and then added a brim, but you can use a variety of crochet stitches between the crown and brim to make the hat.

Size to fit: 3-6 month Baby
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
35 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 1
20 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 2
4.00mm crochet hook
You can for a:-
Newborn baby use a 3.00mm hook
0-3 month use a 3.50mm hook
6-12 month use a 4.50mm hook.
TENSION – 4tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Worked in rounds without turning throughout.
Make 6ch, join with a ss to form a ring, (RS) 3ch, work 16tr into ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (16tr + 3ch)
Second Round – (Inc row) 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (32tr + 3ch)
Third Round – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (48tr + 3ch)
Fourth Round – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr in next tr, 1tr in each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (64tr + 3ch)
Fifth Round – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.
Rpt Fifth Round until 12 rounds have been worked in all, work should measure 5.5 from crown. Fasten off.
Work should measure 5.5 from crown.
Brim – Join in colour 2, working into FLO for this row, make 2ch, work 2htr into each tr to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. (128htr + 2ch)
Starting with 2ch, work 2 rounds of 1htr into each htr to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
Chain Tie – Using colour 2, make 91ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose end of yarn, thread chain tie through the third tr row above the brim, cross over the ends and secure, add a small novelty button to decorate.
