MATERIALS: For doily 5 1/2" in diameter: Daisy Mercerized Crochet Cotton, size 30, 1 (500-yard) skein; crochet hook No. 10.

Starting at center, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st Rnd: Ch 1, work 12 sc in ring. join with sl st to first sc.

2nd Rnd: Ch 1, sc in sl st, * ch 11, sl st in 8th ch from hook, work 13 sc over loop just formed, sl st in first sc of 13-sc, 5 sc over remaining ch 3, sc in next sc on center ring. Repeat from * 11 times more (12 spokes made). Join with sl st to first sc. Break off.

3rd Rnd; Attach thread to 7th sc of any 13-sc loop, ch 1, sc in same sc where thread was attached, * ch 10, sc in 7th sc of next loop. Repeat from * 11 times more, ending ch 10. Join with sl st to first sc.

4th Rnd: Ch 1, sc in sl st, * over next ch-10 loop work 5 sc, ch 15, sl st in 10th ch from hook, ch 1, 17 sc over loop just formed, sl st in first sc of 17-sc, 9 sc over remaining ch 5, 5 sc over remainder of loop. Repeat from * 11 times more. Join with sl st to first sc (12 spokes made).

5th Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each sc on rnd, working a sc on opposite side of each of the 9-sc made in previous rnd. Join with sl st. Break off.

6th Rnd: Skip first 3 sc of 17-sc loop, attach thread to next sc, ch 1, sc in same sc, * sc in next 10 sc, ch 12, sc in 4th sc on next 17-sc loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th Rnd: Ch 1, * sc in each of next 11 sc, work 13 sc over ch-12 loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

8th Rnd: Sl st in next sc, ch 1, * sc in next 4 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc, skip next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

9th Rnd: Repeat 8th rnd.

10th Rnd: Sl st in next 5 sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, * ch 10, sc in same sc, ch 10, sc in center sc of next scallop. Repeat from * around. Join.

11th Rnd: Ch 1, work 13 sc over each ch-10 and connecting ch. Join.

12th Rnd: Sl st in next 3 sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, * ch 9, skip 5 sc, sc in next sc, ch 5, skip 9 sc, sc in next sc, ch 5, sc in 4th sc of next loop. Repeat from * around. Join.

13th Rnd: Ch 1, sc in same sc, * 9 sc over next loop, sc in next sc; (over next loop work 5 sc, sc in next sc) twice. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
