Chunky Knit Look Crochet Pillow

Chunky knit look throw pillows are the best.  Crochet one in black and white stripes and watch your living room transform from blah to Scan chic.

The knit look stitch is a simple variation of the hdc. So easy, so quick, so fun!  Enjoy!

Skill Level: Easy

Size: Fits 18 x 18 pillow form.  Easily adjustable to fit any size pillow.

Yarn: 4 balls Cascade Lana Grande (2 balls Ecru, 2 balls Black) substitute with about 300 yards of super bulky yarn, 150 yards in each color.

Hook: N (15 mm) hook

Special Stitch: Hdcf - yo, pull up a loop in the loop in front of the front loop (not the back loop, not the front loop, but the loop in front of the front loop), yo, pull through all three loops on hook.

Gauge: 8 stitches and 6 rows is a 4 inch square.

Pattern:
With black yarn, ch 72 (or number of chains needed for twice the pillow form width), join to first ch with sl st to form a circle, making sure not to twist the chain.

Rd 1: Ch 1, turn, 1 hdc in each st around, sl st to first hdc of round to join. (72)

Rd 2: With white yarn, ch 1, turn, 1 hdcf (see stitch guide) in each hdc around, sl st to first st of round. (72)

Rd 3: With black yarn, ch 1, turn, 1 hdcf in each st around, sl st to first st of round. (72)

Rds 4-27 : Repeat rounds 2 and 3 twelve more times (or the number of times needed for the length of your pillow form)

Finishing:  Insert your pillow form with your favorite side facing (I like the light stripes facing), slip stitch both ends closed with black yarn.  Weave in all your ends.  To clean your pillow, wash it in cold water on delicate and tumble dry with low heat. Use a hand steamer to refresh between cleanings.
